Shariah Supervisory Board
The Guidance Financial Group Shariah Supervisory Board is composed of highly respected Islamic scholars who ensure that all ventures and investment programs comply with Shariah principles. They oversee financial products to maintain ongoing compliance with Islamic ethical standards, ensuring principled investment products and harmonious financial transactions.

Justice (Ret.) M. Taqi Usmani
Shariah Board Chairman
Justice Usmani is the President of Dar Al Uloom Karachi and the Chairman of the Shariah Board of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). Justice Usmani was the former Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Fiqh Academy and a former member of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He is currently the Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Boards of Guidance Financial Group and Meezan Bank. He formerly chaired and sat on the Shariah supervisory boards of various Islamic financial institutions globally such as Citi Islamic Investment Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al-Baraka Group. Justice Usmani holds Alimiyyah and Takhassus degrees from Darul Uloom, Karachi, an M.A. degree from Punjab University and an L.L.B from Karachi University.

Shaykh Nizam Yaquby
Shariah Board Member
Shaykh Nizam Yaquby has contributed important original research on many aspects of modern Islamic finance and is considered one of the world's leading experts in the field. Shaykh Nizam Yaquby has served in various Shariah supervisory boards for financial institutions globally which includes Guidance Financial Group, Shamil Bank of Bahrain, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole CIB, Dow Jones Islamic Index, HSBC Amanah, Lloyds TSB, and Citi Islamic. Sheikh Nizam Yaquby is called upon frequently to consult with governmental and regulatory authorities on issues related to Islamic finance, and he is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences worldwide. Shaykh Yaquby has received his BA in Economics and Comparative Religion from McGill University, Canada and also holds a Ph.D in Islamic Law. He was trained in the classical Shariah sciences in his native Bahrain and in Makkah, amongst others.

Dr. Mohamad A. Elgari
Shariah Board Member
Dr. Elgari was a former Professor of Islamic Economics at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and a former Director of the Center for Research in Islamic Economics, in the same university. He is an expert at the Islamic Jurisprudence Academy of the Organization of Islamic Corporation (OIC) and the Islamic Jurisprudence Academy of the Islamic World League and a member of the Shariah Council of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOFI). He is a member of the editorial boards of several academic publications in the field of Islamic Finance and Jurisprudence; among them, Journal of the Jurisprudence and sits on the advisory board of Harvard Series in Islamic Law, Harvard Law School. A native of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Elgari is also chairman and a member of several Shariah Boards of Islamic financial institutions worldwide including Guidance Financial Group. A frequent speaker in conferences on Islamic finance worldwide, Dr. Elgari has published a number of books in Islamic finance and authored numerous articles on the subject, both in Arabic and English. Dr. Elgari holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California.

Dr. Mohd. Daud Bakar
Shariah Board Member
Dr. Mohd Daud is a leading expert of Islamic finance from Malaysia and was the former Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Councils (SAC) of the Malaysian Central Bank and the Securities Commission of Malaysia – positions which he held for more than two decades. Apart from his role on the Shariah Supervisory Board of Guidance Financial Group, Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar is also the founder and executive chairman of Amanie Group. He was also the former chairman of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (MAIWP) in Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, he serves as the chairman of the Shariah Advisory Boards of Habib Metropolitan Bank of Pakistan and Madina Takaful in Oman. Dr Mohd. Daud is also a Shariah board member of various global financial institutions, including BNP Paribas Najma in Bahrain, Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank in Dubai, and Dow Jones Islamic Market Index. Dr Mohd Daud received his Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.

Shaykh Yusuf Talal DeLorenzo

Shaykh DeLorenzo is considered a leading authority on Islamic finance in the United States. He has translated over twenty books from Arabic, Persian, and Urdu for publication, including a three-volume Compendium of Legal Rulings on the Operations of Islamic Banks. He is a member of the Shariah supervisory boards of several financial institutions, including Guidance Financial Group, Dow Jones Islamic Markets, Wafra Investment Advisory Group and Oasis Crescent Funds. Shaykh DeLorenzo has served as secretary of the Fiqh Council of North America and was also an advisor on Islamic education to the government of Pakistan. Following a university education in the United States, Shaykh DeLorenzo studied the classical Shariah Sciences with scholars in Pakistan.

Dr. Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani

Dr. Usmani is currently the Vice President of Darul Uloom, Karachi. He has carried out extensive research in his area of expertise, Islamic finance, and his book, A Guide to Islamic Banking, is well known and regarded as a manual of Islamic Banking. In addition to his position on the Shariah Supervisory Board of Guidance Financial Group, he is a Shariah advisor or Shariah supervisory board member to several institutions, including State Bank of Pakistan, Meezan Bank, UBS, Credit Suisse, HSBC Amanah and Lloyds T.S.B. Dr. Usmani conducts training sessions and lectures in Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi and the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi (IBA). He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Islamic Finance and M.A. (Arabic and Islamic Studies) as well as Alimiyyah and Takhassus degrees, with a specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence, from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi.

Khaled Elsayed

Khaled Elsayed serves as President and CEO of Guidance Investments, LLC. He also serves in the same capacity of Guidance Residential, LLC. Based in Reston, Virginia, he is responsible for the overall management and performance of the companies.
Mr. Elsayed is described as a leading U.S. home finance industry executive with extensive national experience in all aspects of the business, including sales and operations. He is also noted as an accomplished leader in start-up and high-growth business environments, with experience in building motivated teams.
Prior to his role at Guidance, Mr. Elsayed was the President and CEO of HomeView Lending, where he was involved in the company's establishment and the development of its sales and operating structure. He also held various executive positions at New Century Mortgage Corp, including President of the Wholesale Division.

Mohamad Nasir
EVP and General Manager
Mohamad Nasir serves as Executive Vice President and General Manager at Guidance Investments, LLC. Mr. Nasir brings over three decades of leadership experience in Islamic finance, specializing in fund management, compliance, and strategic growth. Mohamad plays a pivotal role in driving the firm’s vision and overseeing its operations, investor relations, and strategic partnerships. His deep expertise in Shariah-compliant investment vehicles, coupled with his extensive experience in financial management and regulatory compliance, provides a solid foundation for the firm’s continued success.
Previously, Mohamad led a Halal Mutual Fund. His appointment by the Governor of Illinois to the Illinois State Employee Pension System (SERS) board further solidifies his trust and credibility in managing large-scale financial operations. A trusted leader, Mohamad is dedicated to bridging the gap between Islamic principles and innovative investment solutions. Mohamad serves on several non-profits and community organizations boards.

Nick Minardi
Executive Vice President
Nicholas Minardi serves as is the Executive Vice President of Guidance Investments, LLC. He has also served in an executive capacity for Guidance Residential, LLC where he initially joined the company in 2011. Mr. Minardi has formally acted as Guidance Residential’s Chief Operations Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Chief Financial Officer.
With over 30 years of banking and mortgage industry experience, he oversees and seeks to continually improve the companies’ secondary, capital markets, servicing, and finance activity. Mr. Minardi has extensive knowledge in financial planning, operations, secondary marketing activity, and servicing related to lending platforms.

Nancy Whipp
Treasurer
Nancy Whipp serves as Treasurer of Guidance Investments, LLC and is also the Chief Financial Officer of Guidance Residential. She has 30 years of financial management and auditing experience with 20 years focused in the financial services space and over five years serving as CFO for national independent mortgage lenders. She leads the overall financial management of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, secondary marketing, planning and analysis, and treasury.
Earlier in her career, she established and grew her own CFO advisory and financial consulting practice, serving a diverse base of clients in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting and is a certified public accountant in the state of Virginia.

Tom Gainor
Director and Chief Compliance Officer
Thomas Gainor serves as Director and Chief Compliance Officer for Guidance Investments, LLC. Mr. Gainor also serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Guidance Residential. In this role, he is responsible for Shariah structuring and compliance, as well as all regulatory oversight for the Trust.
Mr. Gainor brings over 30 years of diversified professional experience as a lawyer, accountant, and financial product engineer. His background encompasses a strong understanding of the legal and financial complexities within the mortgage and Islamic finance industries. He is a licensed attorney and is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
Earlier in her career, she established and grew her own CFO advisory and financial consulting practice, serving a diverse base of clients in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting and is a certified public accountant in the state of Virginia.
